Tricyrtis 'Samurai'

Tricyrtis 'Samurai' has been the most vigorous variegated toad lily we have grown to date. The wide margined, yellow to cream edged foliage looks great through the summer and in August into the fall each stem is topped with branching, lavender tipped and purple spotted, cream colored flowers. It grows 18" high and prefers well-drained, woodland type soil in open shade. Please note that this variety may not be reliably hardy colder than zone 6.

Like all toad lilies it spreads underground to form a dense colony and is excellent for fall color in the woodland garden. In the winter Tricyrtis slough the old roots and resprout from individual growth points that had developed along the previous season's rhizomes.  In the spring we will ship bundles of planting pips, some flowering size, and you can plant in a group or spread them out a little if you want.

Height: 18" Spacing: 15 - 18" apart
Light: Dappled/open shade Soil: Humus-rich, semi-dry and well-drained, woodland type
Bloom Time: Fall Zones: 6 - 9
